Media Support

The SFK Media Support Program was founded in 1996 to support independent media and journalists, media NGOs, the development of new information technologies and to promote legislative changes in the area of media law. The program supports initiatives aimed at the development of independent media and organizations promoting freedom of speech in Kazakhstan.

The mission of the program is strengthening the role of the media community of Kazakhstan to promote the principles of pluralism, tolerance, and freedom of information.

Objectives:

• strengthen the role of the media organizations in strengthening their expertise and advocacy activities;
• professional development of journalists and media; and
• increase public awareness of the transition to digital by Kazakh broadcasters.
