Legal Reform

Mission

To assist in promoting the rule of law and improving the national legislation's conformity to the international standards in the field of human rights protection and delivery of justice.

 

Objectives

  • Promoting a dialog between the government and the civil society in improving the national legislation and brining it into correspondence with international standards in the field of protection of civil/political and social/economic rights, and OSCE human dimension standards
  • Development of partnership between the government and civil society in strengthening tolerance and non-discrimination of minorities.
  • Supporting civil society initiatives aimed at giving coverage to RK's OSCE Chairmanship

Priorities in 2010

  • Legal reform assistance - Assistance in the drafting and adoption of draft laws in the field of the access to information, administrative justice, the right to freedom of association and peaceful assembly, as well as models designed to provide free legal assistance, the palliative care concept in accordance with international standards.
  • Support of Human Rights Protection - Support of the civil society advocacy initiatives.
  • Support of socially vulnerable groups - A module of projects designed to ensure socio-economic fairness and equality.
