Transparency Policy

The Soros Foundation - Kazakhstan follows two fundamental principles: transparency and accountability.

The Foundation's programs are aimed at protecting the interests of Kazakhstan's people, and achieving transparency in public, economic and political areas, including:

  * free access to information about social programs in accordance with the international standards and criteria of human rights;
  * the right to control and review public information provided by state organizations with respect to the efficiency of budgetary funds;
  * further promoting transparency and accountability in the country's extractive industries;
  * carrying out analytical research and current monitoring of any issues relating to the management of Kazakhstan's National Fund;
  * protecting the rights of citizens to have uncensored information from free mass media sources including electronic media; and
  * protecting the freedoms and rights of citizens irrespective of their gender, race, nationality, social status, religion, physical condition or sexual orientation.


By implementing innovative projects based on the principles of transparency and accountability, the Soros Foundation - Kazakhstan facilitates the development of an open, democratic society in Kazakhstan ensuring information transparency, accountability of the government and state bodies, legal authority and respect for human rights.   

In accordance with the principle of transparency, the Foundation regularly publishes reports on its activities, including annual reports, in mass-media communications and on the Foundation's Web site.
