February 20, 2015 was a momentous event for the country as Kazakhstan had ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (hereinafter – the Convention), thereby making a positive step towards improving the situation of persons with special needs in our country.

The Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan expresses regret  due  to the passage of the Law “On Introduction of Changes and Addendae to Certain Legal Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Issues in Relation to the Activities of Non-governmental Organizations”.

The Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan welcomes the passage of the Access to Information Law, which expands opportunities for Kazakhstan to join the Open Government Partnership (OGP) global initiative.

Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan expresses its concerns with regard to the Law «On the protection of children from information harmful to their health and development» passed by the Senate (the upper house) of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.

October 18, 2013 – Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan welcomes the decision of the International EITI Board to assign the Republic of Kazakhstan as ‘EITI Compliant’.
