The Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan Statement The passage of the Access to Information Law by the Government of Kazakhstan

The Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan welcomes the passage of the Access to Information Law, which expands opportunities for Kazakhstan to join the Open Government Partnership (OGP) global initiative.

The governments of the OGP participating countries voluntarily take on commitments to increase public finance transparency, empower civic participation and engagement in decision-making, curb corruption, promote good governance and improve the quality of State services. An effective collaboration between the governments and civil society actors is an essential factor for a successful implementation of the OGP. For further information, please refer to the OGP website at http://www.opengovpartnership.org.

The Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan calls the national Government to join the Open Government Partnership to secure Kazakhstan’s placement in the world’s top-30 most developed countries. We are eager to offer our support to civil society organizations, based on principles of inclusion, competency and pluralism.
